The video was to promote the new product, which was released on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<div id=\"taboolaReadMoreBelow\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"anchor-ae75b3\" class=\"body-graf\">&#8220;That\u2019s a big bite for a big arch!\u201d Kempczinski said, holding up the burger with a negligible bite mark.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-8c3f3a\" class=\"body-graf\">The video went viral for the apparent discrepancy. Social media users also started questioning if Kempczinski finished the burger for lunch as he said he would in the video.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-1675bf\" class=\"body-graf\">&#8216;This almost feels dystopian. He\u2019s acting like he\u2019s afraid of it. I &#8216;swear&#8217;!!!&#8221; another wrote. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-27381e\" class=\"body-graf\">An Instagram account belonging to carmaker Mini Cooper also weighed in, writing: &#8220;Gonna start test driving our cars 1 metre at a time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-f3f745\" class=\"body-graf\">Burger King&#8217;s comment, which received nearly 71,000 likes, was brief: &#8220;we couldn&#8217;t finish it either.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-89d5c9\" class=\"body-graf\">Then on Tuesday, the day the Big Arch was released, Burger King posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DVZoZQJjti8\/\" target=\"_blank\">video of its president, Tom Curtis, eating its signature Whopper<\/a> cheeseburger on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-101eb5\" class=\"body-graf\">&#8220;Thought we\u2019d replay this,&#8221; Burger King wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n<section id=\"anchor-5d032d\" class=\"embed-widget embedWidget embed-widget--medium\" data-testid=\"embed-widget\">\n<div data-testid=\"iframely-wrapper\" class=\"embed-widget__use-presentation embed-widget__iframely-instagram\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"iframely-instagram iframely-app iframely-embed\" style=\"max-width: 660px\">\n<div class=\"iframely-responsive\" style=\"padding-bottom: 63%;padding-top: 284px\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p id=\"anchor-13fd0a\" class=\"body-graf\">The fast-food behemoth denied that the video was related to the spat.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-21eea9\" class=\"body-graf\">&#8220;We can confirm that this video was not created in reaction to anything,&#8221; a Burger King spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News on Wednesday. &#8220;While the timing may seem quick, the video was part of ongoing efforts to spotlight the recently elevated Whopper and Tom\u2019s direct engagement with Guests.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-a4c0d7\" class=\"body-graf\">&#8220;We believe leadership should genuinely enjoy and stand behind the food we serve, and it was important for him to experience the Whopper the same way our Guests do as we continue building momentum around our menu updates,&#8221; the spokesperson continued. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-5ece8d\" class=\"body-graf\">When asked for a statement, a spokesperson for McDonald&#8217;s referred to a recent post on its Instagram account.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-0915cd\" class=\"body-graf\">The post has an image of the company&#8217;s new burger, with the following caption: &#8220;Take a bite of our new product. Can\u2019t believe this got approved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c5f391\" class=\"body-graf\">On Wednesday, competitor Wendy\u2019s appeared to weigh in on the spat.
