{"id":4401,"date":"2025-11-20T10:37:01","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marketsfortress.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/20\/faa-has-lifted-emergency-flight-reductions-used-to-ease-staffing-pressure-during-government-shutdown\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T10:37:01","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:37:01","slug":"faa-has-lifted-emergency-flight-reductions-used-to-ease-staffing-pressure-during-government-shutdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marketsfortress.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/20\/faa-has-lifted-emergency-flight-reductions-used-to-ease-staffing-pressure-during-government-shutdown\/","title":{"rendered":"FAA has lifted emergency flight reductions used to ease staffing pressure during government shutdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"anchor-48ce6b\" class=\"body-graf\">The Federal Aviation Administration has ended its flight-reduction emergency order, allowing air travel to resume normal operations. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-dbb676\" class=\"body-graf\">The emergency order was officially lifted Monday at 6 a.m. ET, ending the reductions that caused mass cancellations and delays at airports. <\/p>\n<div id=\"taboolaReadMoreBelow\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"anchor-7df0ed\" class=\"body-graf\">The cuts, which started with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/faa-flights-canceled-airport-cuts-government-shutdown-what-know-rcna242488\" target=\"_blank\">4% reduction in flights at 40 major airports on Nov. 7<\/a>, were designed to address fatigue and staffing issues among air traffic controllers amid the record-long government shutdown. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-a80e1d\" class=\"body-graf\">It\u2019s being rolled back now that staffing levels have \u201cstabilized\u201d with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/house-vote-bill-end-government-shutdown-longest-ever-snap-flights-rcna243438\" target=\"_blank\">end of the government shutdown<\/a> Wednesday, the FAA said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-296508\" class=\"body-graf\">The decision, which comes at the beginning of the busy Thanksgiving travel period, was made following an FAA review of &#8220;safety trends&#8221; and because of &#8220;the steady <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/business\/travel\/faa-keeps-flight-cancellations-6-house-set-vote-end-shutdown-rcna243424\" target=\"_blank\">decline of staffing-trigger events<\/a> in air traffic control facilities,&#8221; aviation officials said in a news release Sunday. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-0d4e13\" class=\"body-graf\">Just six staffing triggers reported Friday, eight Saturday and one Sunday \u2014 dramatic improvements from the record high of 81 staffing triggers on Nov. 8. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-997bfe\" class=\"body-graf\">Other restrictions, including some visual flight rule approaches, limits on commercial space launches and parachute operations, will also end. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c832e5\" class=\"body-graf\">The FAA noted that it was aware of reports of \u201cnon-compliance by carriers\u201d during the emergency order, and is \u201creviewing and assessing enforcement operations.\u201d It\u2019s not clear what penalties will be for defying the orders.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-4be3d3\" class=\"body-graf\">Under the original emergency order, flight reductions were set to ramp up to 10% by Friday. However, on Wednesday, officials froze<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/business\/travel\/faa-keeps-flight-cancellations-6-house-set-vote-end-shutdown-rcna243424\" target=\"_blank\"> flight reductions at 6% <\/a>due to strong staffing levels and the rapid decline in air traffic controller call-outs, and then further reduced them to 3% on Friday.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-1c2025\" class=\"endmark body-graf\">Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Sunday that aviation officials can now &#8220;refocus&#8221; efforts on hiring more air traffic controllers and on &#8220;building the brand new, state of the art air traffic control system the American people deserve.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Aviation Administration has ended its flight-reduction emergency order, allowing air travel to resume normal operations.
