The 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will be remembered as one of the most exciting championship rounds in baseball history. <\/p>\n

And if you\u2019re lucky, and wealthy, that history could be taken home. <\/p>\n

For the next 15 days, SCP Auctions will offer up some of the most prized pieces of sports memorabilia<\/a> for bidding. This includes Shohei Ohtani\u2019s second home run (of three) from Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, Miguel Rojas\u2019 home run in the top of the ninth that sent Game 7 of the World Series to extra innings, and Will Smith\u2019s home run that eventually won Los Angeles the title. <\/p>\n

The latter two balls \u2014 caught by a father and a son, miraculously, two innings apart \u2014 are both expected to command a major financial sum. According to Michael Keys, the COO of SCP Auctions, market data suggests Rojas\u2019 ball will be sold in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Smith\u2019s ball will garner even more. <\/p>\n

\u201cWill Smith\u2019s go-ahead, I believe, is a seven-figure ball,\u201d he told NBC News. <\/p>\n

Freddie Freeman\u2019s grand slam walk-off ball that won Game 1 of the 2024 World Series sold for $1.56 million last December<\/a>. Because Smith\u2019s home run was in a do-or-die Game 7 and essentially secured the Dodgers the World Series, Keys envisions it surpassing Freeman\u2019s total.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t hesitate to say that Will Smith\u2019s (ball) has got to be at least seven figures based on the Freeman Game 1 walk-off last year that didn\u2019t even seal the victory for the series,\u201d he said. \u201cIt did turn the tide for the series. That was the momentum that they needed to continue to roll against the Yankees. But this Game 7 was incredible. It\u2019s a moment in history.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Ohtani\u2019s home run ball from the NLCS did not carry the same magnitude as Smith\u2019s or Rojas\u2019 in terms of team success, it likely will fetch a similar number. That\u2019s because it came in a game that MLB.com considered \u201cthe most impressive performance we have ever seen<\/a> in the postseason \u2014 and perhaps in any game.\u201d <\/p>\n

On that October 17 night against the Milwaukee Brewers, Ohtani dominated both on the mound and in the batter’s box. He threw six innings, allowing just two hits and no earned runs while striking out 10. He also launched three home runs, including a 469-foot bomb into the center field stands. <\/p>\n

That second home run ball is now up for auction and will be a grail for any collector. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have that estimated at $1-2 million or more,\u201d Keys said. <\/p>\n

Other items being auctioned off include Lou Gehrig\u2019s 1937 World Series jersey and Mickey Mantle rookie cards. <\/p>\n

In addition to their traditional authentication process, SCP requires the owners of the items to write a notarized affidavit and undergo a polygraph test. <\/p>\n

Most bidding, Keys said, won\u2019t come until the final day. <\/p>\n

\u201cI would say that in auction time, we\u2019re in the first inning of an extra inning ball game right now,\u201d he said. \u201cA majority of the bidding activity \u2014 probably 90 plus percent of the bidding activity \u2014 is going to come in the last 48 or 24 hours.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
